One resin, three working times
Inlay work wants a slow, patient adhesive; a running line wants speed. Two part epoxy for woodworking answers both from a single resin by swapping hardeners. Fast, medium and slow grades give a 20-minute or a 120-minute open time on the same shelf, so a model shop in Shenzhen ran fine marquetry on the slow grade and batch assembly on the fast one instead of stocking two different glues.
Resin chemistry and cure grades
The high-purity epoxy sits at an epoxy value of 0.52-0.54 eq/100g with a resin viscosity of 6,000-8,000 mPa.s at 25 C. Blended 1:1 at 20 C, the fast grade is workable for 20 minutes, tack-free at two hours and fully hard at eight, reaching Shore D 85. Blended 2:1, the slow grade stays open for 120 minutes, cures over 24 hours to Shore D 75 with 10 percent elongation for large clamp-up adjustments. Both hold a shear of 15-20 MPa to ASTM D-905 and reach EN 204 D4 weather resistance.
Stays clear on pale wood
Solids are 100 percent and shrinkage under 0.1 percent, so joints do not sink as they set. A hindered-amine light stabiliser and antioxidant are built in, and after 500 hours of QUV the yellowing index stays under delta-E 2.0, which matters on light species and clear decorative work.
Batch control at the plant
Reaction kettles and filling lines run under plant QC, with viscosity and cure tested on each resin and hardener batch. The technical desk can also recommend a blend ratio for your shop temperature, and the group holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and TS 16949 certification.
Where the flexibility pays
One shelf covers work that would otherwise need several bottles. The fast grade moves production lamination and quick clamp-ups, while the slow grade leaves hours for complex inlay, parquetry and large assemblies that need repositioning before the grab. Both bond dense hardwoods and clear the EN 204 D4 water class, so a single inventory serves furniture repair, decorative panel bonding and marine-adjacent joinery. The clear, non-sinking fill keeps figured and light-coloured faces clean, and the resin keeps its workability on a warm bench rather than flashing off.
